Gay characters are coming to Star Wars

The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams has given support to the franchise having openly gay characters in future episodes, because of course that is a fabulous idea.

“I could love it,” the director said. “To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say there wouldn’t be a homosexual character.”

There’s been a recent obsession among Star Wars fans that Finn and Poe, two of the male leads from The Force Awakens, are totally gay for each other, and Oscar Isaacs (Poe) has confirmed that he was “paying romance” in his scenes with John Boyega.

We can only hope.
