GRINDR CRIME IS UP A WHOPPING 700%

Looking for another legit reason to uninstall Grindr? Well, if this won’t do the trick – nothing will.
According to disturbing figures released by authorities in the UK, incidents of crime on Grindr have increased by over 700% in the last two years.
Unsurprisingly, the most commonly reported crimes were violent or sexual in nature, with 253 allegations of violence and 152 reports of sex offences.
The most at risk? Closeted or bisexual men – those who are supposedly less likely to report any wrong-doings, abuse or criminal activity.
“The rising popularity of online dating apps and websites has contributed to an increase in the number of recorded crimes,” said Andy Cooke, the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s lead on violence and public protection.
“We strongly encourage users to report offences and seek support if they become a victim of any type of crime. I would urge those who use online dating apps to be as security conscious as possible and not to share personal data with anyone until they are sure about those they are communicating with.”
These incidents are not exclusive to the UK, with many similar attacks taking place in Australia over the past few years. In 2014 Corey Draper, 23, was jailed for 17 months after meeting up with a man he met on the sex/dating-app, before robbing him at knifepoint on the streets of Alexandria.
Maybe it’s time Grindr took a leaf out of Über’s book and began looking at increased safety measures for those looking to have a good time – and live to tell the tale.
