Gaytimes Festival Melbourne!
By Kat Dopper
Australia’s first queer camping music festival, Gaytimes happened over the weekend at picturesque purpose-built site atLake Mountain Alpine Resort, just a 1 hour 45 minute drive north of Melbourne.
Over two nights and three days, this boutique camping festival featured music, art, performance, yoga and more.
We sent our mate George to get the real goss!
DAY 1 Highlights….
George:
So it took us 4 hours from airport to get to the camp site and you find yourself being a tourist at an interstate Kmart.
After the adventures of pitching a tent in the dark (get a pop up tent, guys) we managed to catch the final part of CC disco set=yas, quality. Closing track “lost in music – sister sledge”
Banoffee + Oscar keysung’s dance off on stage.. They have to be the bloody cutest couple ever!
Sveta nailed the closing set!
DAY 2
Thank god for real coffee, we made it to the Drag race hosted by Karen from finance. Amyl infused grannies win the martini espresso tickets to assist them with Granny Bingo later on the day.
Tantric workshop has enlightened us on increased female pleasure.
Good turned out to not be a rip off. Vietnamese street noodle salads were the way to go – we slaps went for a hike, so worth it, the view is incredible, lived for them soft peachy sunlight vibes at 630pm.
Tanzer, Simona Castricum & Paul Mac were killer!
Later in the night, in the basement club two guys happened to be making out violently enough to cut out the power from the DJ decks. Tunes were back on within seconds though.
6AM at the garage got the crowd real turns with Underworld’s “Two Months Off”
We call it! Best camping festival in years. See you next time Gaytimes.
