‘LESBIAN’ WAS THE WORLD’S TOP PORN SEARCH IN 2015
By James Branson
Every year, PornHub, the website that keeps inconveniently popping up on your “frequently visited” section when you open Safari, releases a yearly report reviewing the general public’s porn-watching habits.
The report is a gold mine for anyone interested in delving into humanity’s collective perversions, and includes some truly stunning stats. For example, over 4.3 billion hours worth of porn was watched on the site last year.
And, in what is probably more a case of straight men indulging in the fantasy what they can’t have, rather than a victory for the queer community, “lesbian” turned out to be the number one search in Australia and around the world, bumping out “teen” and “milf”, which had previously jostled for the number one spot.
Now, we’re not going to claim this as a good thing – having just searched “lesbian” on PornHub, I can flat-out guarantee that the vast majority of “lesbian” porn on the site is caught firmly by the male gaze.
Still interesting, though.
The average visit on PornHub and its related sites (Redtube, YouPorn) was nine minutes, 20 seconds.
