YOU CAN NOW HELP SAVE THE WHALES BY WATCHING MORE PORN!
By James Branson
For all you kids who dreamed of being marine biologists when you were in year nine, there’s now a way to help protect endangered whales that doesn’t involve years of study at a top university followed by a few more depressing years of looking for a job.
You can just watch some porn. Yay!
For the entire month of February, PornHub will be donating one cent for every 2,000 videos streamed on its site to the Moclips Cetelogical Society, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of Sperm Whale (cue puns), Humpback Whales (more puns here) and a number of other species.
Since the campaign launched on Tuesday, 813,426,365 videos have been streamed. If that rate continues for the month, the donation will end up being over 52 grand.
“We’re now asking our community to turn their attention to—and help save—a different type of blowhole, one that belongs to a majestic species that once swelled in numbers throughout the oceans before commercial industries initiated their demise,” PornHub Vice President Corey Price wrote in a statement about Save The Whales.
In the same statement, Moclips Cetelogical Society’s president Ken Balcomb endorsed this particular method of fundraising, reminding us “humans are not the only mammals that engage in sexual activities for reasons other than procreation. Cetaceans – whales, dolphins and porpoises – are very sexual animals and have evolved a variety of fascinating social life histories beyond simple procreation.”
