Aussie politicians act like children while LGBTIQ Australians are thrown to the wolves
By Matthew Clark
This week has been a certified ShitShow™ in Australian politics.
I mean, we’ve all seen the shit-slinging from irrelevant Coalition backbenchers to attack young LGBTIQ Australians, and no one was really surprised about any of that, but in the midst of the attempt by the right to defund a program designed to save lives, the ALP and the Greens decided to direct their attention to “#MarriageEquality”.
But, like, it’s weird, right…
You’d think “Oh, we have two of the three major parties going on about Marriage Equality, maybe I’ll actually be able to marry my boyfriend of 10 years!!”
The only problem would be that you’d think wrong.
Rather than actually doing anything useful, both The Greens and the ALP are just doing what the Coalition is doing. Shit-slinging. Only they’re slinging it at each other!
First, the greens voted to delay Marriage Equality because of a deal with the Liberal-Nationals…
And so the ALP reacted like this:
But then the Labor Party did exactly the same thing!
And then The Greens reacted in a way that nobody would have expected…
And both parties used it as a political tool against the other!
Meanwhile, we’ve made no progress about the issue of Marriage Equality that both The Greens and The ALP are apparently Oh-So-Passionate about.
It’s fair to say that this whole situation is very messy…
Myself, I’m just glad vodka exists…
