In Melbourne? Get your arse to the safe schools rally tonight

By Heaps Gay Staff

Thousands are expected to rally in Melbourne tonight to protest the Coalition Government’s meddling in the Safe Schools program, which has been the subject of some controversy lately… if you can call “dickhead right-wingers in the Liberal party talking complete garbage about a vitally important anti-bullying program” controversy.

The rally, organised by Equal Love, hopes to send a message to those who would have the program cancelled.

“The attacks on the Safe Schools coalition have shocked and angered many people both in the LGBTI community and beyond,” said Rally organiser Ali Hogg. ”

We have had teachers, students and parents contact us asking what they can do to show their support for this important program, as well as many groups from within the LGBTI community.

“We hope to send a strong message to the government that attacks on anti-homophobia initiatives and LGBTI youth will not be tolerated.”

Here here. The rally will begin at 5:30pm at the State Library of Victoria.
